Druk Air Dhaka Office

Druk Air

Drukair Corporation Limited, also known as Druk Air, is Bhutan’s flag carrier. It is headquartered in Paro, the western dzongkhag. It was founded in 1981, ten years after Druk Gyalpo Jigme Wangchuck’s death. The Kingdom began to be freed from its self-imposed isolation. Seven years later, the airline welcomed its first foreign visitors. In 1983, the airline began operations with flights between Kolkata and Paro using Dornier 228 aircraft. In November 1988, the airline switched to BAe 146/100 equipment to meet increasing demand. Two Airbus A319s replaced those aircraft in 2004.

Druk Air has a small scheduled flight network in the South Asian and Southeast Asian regions. It currently serves 12 destinations in six countries from its Paro Airport base. The Indian government established a committee in mid-1981 to examine its requirements for an alight transport plane. The competition resulted in one Dornier 228 200 ordered by the Bhutanese government for delivery in January 1983. There was also the possibility of a second Dornier 228-200 being delivered in late 1983. Paro Airport received the first Dornier 228-2200, a Dornier 18-seater aircraft, on 14 January 1983.

Overview of Druk Air

The Indian Border Roads Organisation constructed an airstrip in Paro Valley in 1968. The Indian Armed Forces initially used this to provide on-call helicopter operations for the Royal Government of Bhutan. After being reviewed by King Jigme Seungye Wangchuck and the Tshogdu. The Royal Charter established Drukair ten years after Druk Air. Seven years after the first foreign visitors arrived, King Jigme Wangchuck gradually opened up the Kingdom. Paro Airport is situated deep in a valley 2,235m (7,333 feet) above sea level. Mountains surround it up to 4,900m (16,100ft).

The runway measured 1,200 meters (3.900 ft) long at the time. The Bhutanese government had specific requirements regarding the type of aircraft that could be operated. They needed a STOL-capable aircraft capable of carrying 18-20 passengers. This required a high service ceiling, high climb rate, and excellent maneuverability. It had to be able to fly Kolkata – Paro-Katak. Paro’s infrastructure is insufficient to allow for a 1,200 km (750 mi) round trip flight. After flight testing in India and Bhutan, three different types of aircraft were evaluated.

Destination Covered by Druk Air

Because it makes full use of the space within the article, the destinations is better than the “list,” i.e., The table is nicely formatted, but there’s not much whitespace. It is not relevant that destination lists should be complicated and ugly. I intend to make this status a priority. Looking at past FA nominations, it is clear that well-formatted tabulated lists are more favorable than lists like the one Zap has forced upon me.

Our ticket booking agency, travelerplanets.com, will help you book the best and cheapest air tickets. Article editors decide the content of articles by coming to a consensus article by article. Zaps, you are also the editor that disagreed. If you examine the article history, you’ll see that I was the editor who created the table and expanded the article. Discuss before blindly reverting.
