American Airlines was founded in 1930 by a group of over eighty small airlines. Colonial Air Transport and Robertson Aircraft Corporation were the two organizations that gave rise to this flight. American Airlines began to market increased legroom for economy class passengers in February 2000. They also called it “More Room Throughout Coach” (or “MRTC”) and started in February 2000. McDonnell Douglas MD-80 and Boeing 737 aircraft were stripped of two rows of economy-class seats.

This scheme was ended in 2004 due to financial losses. American offers Basic Economy on some routes. This is the lowest main cabin fare.
